Panama Care
CARING FOR YOUR PANAMA.
Toquilla straw is an organic material. A few precise gestures preserve shape, light and flexibility over time.

01
Cleaning
HOW TO CLEAN THE HAT.
If the hat is dirty or stained, a good way to clean it is with a pencil eraser. Never use water or alcohol.
For stains, facial or baby wipes can be used carefully. Any unsuitable chemical tends to damage Toquilla straw.

02
Water & humidity
CAN IT BE WASHED WITH WATER?
No. Avoid contact with water. If contact happens, let the Panama rest until it is completely dry.
Prolonged exposure to water and humidity deforms and damages Panama hats.

03
Shape
IF THE HAT LOSES ITS SHAPE.
If the brim lifts, gently restore the original shape with a steam iron, protecting the hat with a cloth.
If the brim flattens, specialised assistance is needed so the hat does not lose its original character.

04
Storage
WHERE TO KEEP IT WHEN NOT IN USE.
Store the Panama in a cool, dry place. A dedicated case is ideal — a special balsa-wood box for straw hats is available on request.
Do not store Panama hats folded for more than 48 hours in bags, suitcases or boxes. Best methods: balsa boxes, careful hanging, or simply wearing them. A Travel Bag is also recommended.

05
Everyday use
CAN IT BE HUNG?
Avoid always hanging the Panama on the same side or applying too much pressure. Over time the straw can be damaged.
The crown is most exposed: a natural place to hang the hat, and also one of its most delicate parts.

06
Material
TOQUILLA NEEDS BALANCE.
Toquilla straw is organic and needs a certain level of humidity to stay flexible.
While it does not tolerate excess moisture, it should also not sit in strong sun or closed spaces for too long.

07
THE RIGHT SIZE IS PART OF CARE.
Before wearing, check head circumference about one centimetre above the ear, with a soft tape and no pressure.
